Who are we?
Heritage Springs Farm
Established in 2008
In 2008, we decided to leave the city due to health issues and move from a suburban neighborhood to a rural town in southeast Texas. We started with 126 acres and later expanded by purchasing an additional 60 acres. Our farm's name, Heritage Springs, comes from the natural springs on our property, which feed two ponds. The word "Heritage" reflects the family and religious values that are central to our farm.
We began with a herd of Limousin cattle that came with the farm but soon realized they were too large for our family, which included six children (seven after 2011) with the oldest being just 13. We switched to Dexter cattle, a smaller black breed. We also bought a flock of chickens for fresh eggs.
Over the years, our farm has been home to various animals, including two horses, ducks (sadly taken by owls), a small herd of sheep and goats, and a donkey. In 2019, we sold all our goats to a family friend and took a break from farm work to travel.
In 2023, we bought chickens again, and now in 2024, we’re excited about the future. We've hatched 15 chicks so far this year and hope for more. We’re currently cleaning up the farm, and you can follow our progress on our socials!
By late 2024, after redoing all the fences, we plan to replace our Dexter cattle with Angus cattle. We also aim to design a beautiful garden by late 2024 or early 2025, building on our experiences from the past 15 years.
Stay tuned for more updates!
